Andrei was born in Leningrad, Russia. He graduated from the
Vaganova Academy and began his professional career with the
Kirov Ballet. Mr. Ustinov was Principal Dancer
for Moscow Classical Ballet, Estonia Theater,
Mussorgsky (Male) Theater in Leningrad, and
others. After his defection from the Soviet Union in Dallas,
Texas, in 1987, Mr. Ustinov performed as a Principal Guest Artist
with the Dallas Ballet, Ft. Worth Ballet,
Chicago Festival Ballet, and Ballet
Theater of Boston and internationally with Ballet
La Scala di Milano and London City Ballet
among others. His principal repertoire includes most classical
productions, Balanchine works, neoclassical and contemporary
pieces. He danced in the "Titanic" show in 1997 in
Memphis, TN, along with his wife and partner, Elena Martinson.
Mr. Ustinov has developed a career as a teacher, coach, and
choreographer in the United States, Japan, Scotland, and other
countries. We are very pleased to have Andrei as part of our
teaching faculty.
