The ContempraYouth Dancers formed in 2003.

Our mission is to provide young dancers with the experience to understand the importance of commitment to goals, how to work as part of a group, and understand their role in making performances successful. We accompolish this mission by having class requirements consisting of multiple weekly dance lessons at ContempraDance Center including ballet, jazz and modern and being part of ContempraDance Theatre's professional annual production of "Philly-Nutt-Crak-Up", the Youth Regional Dance Festival and various school fairs and productions throughout the area.

We believe our mission assists our youth by their learning dedication, perseverance, motivation and self expression. ContempraYouth Dancers are not a competition dance team. Although we understand the values specific to competition as in that of sports, the ContempraYouth Dancers focus on dance solely as a distinguished art form.

The group is a division of ContempraDance Center chosen by an audition process. All returning members are required to audition to ensure technical progress in their dance education. The group welcomes both boys and girls.
ContempraYouth Dancers is under the direction of Gail Vartanian, director of ContempraDance Center and the Artistic Director of the critically acclaimed ContempraDance Theatre.

Christa Campbell serves as choreographer and company co-director and has been in this position since 2006. Members practice weekly for upcoming performances. Our annual audition is open to all young dancers, ages 7-17, with some dance education.
